One of your first steps is to educate yourself about marriage in Islam. We strongly recommend that you start reading the book Sunnah Method Of Marriage, posted in the Articles section. In particular, you may want to read the chapter on the Basis For Choosing A Partner.

1. Registration

Complete the registration form. Provide as much details as relevant about yourself. The more you write, the better your potential match will be able to know you. Mention fully and clearly all your requirements. This will help us to find you suitable matches, and will help your potential match understand what you are looking for.

Once submitted, your profile will be stored in our private database. Your pictures will only be requested during the matchmaking phase, and are not necessary when registering.

Note: If you are a woman looking for a groom, you must provide the details of your wali before we can send you profiles. If you are a man looking for a bride, although it is not necessary to provide a wali, we highly recommend you include a wali in the matchmaking process.

2. Screening

We will analyze your profile to become acquainted with it. We will then survey our database and try to find a compatible match. If we do not find one immediately, we will keep searching, as we regularly receive new profiles.

While we try to find you a match, make sure to keep reading the book Sunnah Method Of Marriage or other books on this topic.

3. Verification

Once a match has been found and before starting your matchmaking, we will call you and your wali (if necessary) to verify and confirm your profile. We will also go over your profile with you to ensure that it is complete and that we are properly acquainted with your preferences.

4. Matchmaking

Once we have approved your profile, we will start your matchmaking. Each party will be sent the other party’s profile information. Profiles are sent without names, contact information, and pictures.

Once both parties have shown interest in each other’s profile information, we will move on to the picture-sharing phase. Each party will be sent the other party’s pictures. The woman’s pictures will be sent to the man, and the man’s pictures to the woman and her wali. The pictures will be shared through a link that will expire, for the safety of both candidates.

You will have 3 days to accept or decline the profile information, and 3 more days to accept or decline the pictures. You must inform us whether you accept or refuse the profile information/pictures. Failure to respond to us within the 3-day deadline may result in the cancellation of the match, and in your disqualification from our service.

If you or your match refuse at any point, we will cancel the match and keep looking for other matches for you. We will refer you as many profiles as we can, until we find you a Successful Match who you like, and who likes you.

5. Matchmaking Fee

Once both parties have approved the pictures, each party will be asked to pay a matchmaking fee. To find out more about this fee, please check our Pricing page. You will be able to pay via Interac e-Transfer.

You will have 24 hours to make the payment. Failure to pay within the 24-hour deadline may result in the cancellation of the match and your possible disqualification from our service.

6. Contact Sharing

Once both parties have paid the matchmaking fee, each party’s contact information will be shared with the other party.

The man will receive the woman’s name and her Wali’s name, email, and phone number. If the man has included a Wali, the Wali will also receive this information.

The woman will receive the man’s name. The woman’s Wali will receive the man and his wali’s (if applicable) name, email and phone number.

At this juncture, we invite both parties to meet each other within the boundaries of the Islamic Laws and to mutually turn this match into a successful marriage. This will, in shaa Allaah, be facilitated by reading and implementing the book Sunnah Method Of Marriage and other Islamic marriage guidelines.

Notes

1. Our procedure has been developed through full consultation with Mufti Faisal al-Mahmudi of Darul Iftaa Canada.

2. Nikah Canada does not guarantee that we will be able to find you a match.

3. Due to the high number of profile registrations, you may only be contacted once a possible match has been found.
