Sunnah Method Of Marriage
5. Harms Of Not Marrying
1) Abstention of marriage will cause one to be deprived of all the above-mentioned benefits. Therefore, it is abominable to refrain from marriage without a valid reason. Reprimanding a wealthy sahâbî, Rasulullâh ﷺ said, “O Ukâf! (while you remain unmarried) you are (like) a brother to Shaytân. If you had been amongst the Christians, you would have become a monk. Our (i.e. Islam’s) way is marriage…The worst amongst you are the unmarried. The most effective weapon Shaytân employs against pious men is women. However, those who are married are saved from immorality.” (Ahmad)
2) Nabî ﷺ reprimanded one sahâbî who did not want to marry, saying, “Whoever turns away from my sunnah, he is not from me.” (Bukhârî, Muslim)
3) Many evil thoughts and satanic whisperings afflict the mind of unmarried people, which results in the loss of concentration and enjoyment in acts of worship.
